Introduction to CAB

The Chaplaincy Accreditation Board (CAB) has been established by the House of Bishops as an All-Ireland Accrediting Board for Healthcare Chaplains. The current Standards were ratified by the House of Bishops during September 2014

The Standards of CAB pertaining to the accreditation of healthcare chaplains are on a par with the Health Care Chaplaincy Board (HCB) which solely accredits Roman Catholic Chaplains. The Healthcare Chaplaincy Board had its standards approved for use by the Irish Catholic Bishops’ Conference and the Conference of Religious of Ireland in 2013.

The Chaplaincy Accreditation Board accredits chaplains from the Church of Ireland and will consider applications from those of other traditions / faith groups with appropriate tradition / faith group support.
